Here are some final touches to consider, and ways to make certain you submit the best possible product: • Proofread your work! Let it sit for a day or two after you've written the last few paragraphs, and check it one more time for typos, misspelled words or problems in understanding what you're saying. Look at it with "fresh" eyes, as I will be doing when I grade it. • If you haven't taken advantage of the free services in Smart Thinking Online Tutoring (Left navigation), consider doing so. You can get professional feedback on your draft or final paper, before you submit it. • Be sure to run your paper through the spell checker in your word processor! Note – some words will automatically be flagged, such as unusually spelled names, or (in the case of our course) the word "decommitment" will generally appear as a misspelled word. Those are not problems. Careless misspellings, though, or poor use of grammar and unsophisticated writing will reduce your grade. • Avoid writing a paper that is entirely based on your opinion. You need to draw conclusions (which may sound like an opinion at first) and then SUPPORT them through citations from our texts and from academic sources.
